names Sharma regional manager for South Asia
NEW DELHI -- Satish
Sharma, service and technology manager for The Associated
Press in South Asia, has been promoted to regional manager
for South Asia with responsibility for the AP's business operations
in India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Nepal.
The appointment was announced May 10 by Clayton Haswell, the
news cooperative's global business director for Asia and the
Pacific, who is based in San Francisco.
"Satish is a talented manager with a thorough understanding
of our clients' needs throughout the region," Haswell said.
"His track record of service has been key to expanding our
business in India and throughout South Asia."
Sharma joined the AP in New Delhi in 1982. He became a technical
supervisor in 1987 and chief of communications for South Asia
in 1998. In 2000, he was selected for a Gramling Award, given
annually to the news cooperative's outstanding employees.
